Stainless Steel Backsplash With Sea Turtles

When we were commissioned to make a stainless steel backsplash for a custom coastal home on Bald Head Island, we knew it was going to be something special.

We worked with the client to design and fabricate this brushed stainless steel backsplash that included 5 polished stainless sea turtles standing approximately 1″ off the front. The turtles represent their family – mother, father, and 3 children. The use of light colors coupled with a generous amount of stainless steel throughout this kitchen made for a beautiful delivery of this coastal theme.

Bald Head Island is a private island in southeastern North Carolina only accessible by ferry, and with no vehicles allowed other than golf carts. It is at the base of Frying Pan Shoals, and includes a stretch of beach where sea turtles frequently come to nest. Protective barriers are set up around the nests until the buried eggs hatch when people often gather to watch the hatchlings make a run for the sea. What a perfect place to enjoy a family of sea turtles on their backsplash and on the beach!
